What Is Homeostasis in Simple Terms?

Homeostasis means keeping the body’s internal conditions within a healthy working range. It does not mean the body stays perfectly still. It means the body constantly adjusts.

When temperature, blood sugar, hydration, or other internal conditions move too far in one direction, the body uses feedback systems to help bring them back toward a normal range. Organs, hormones, nerves, glands, and cells all contribute to this ongoing regulation.

Quick definition

Homeostasis is internal stability through constant adjustment. The body senses change, compares it with a working range, and responds through coordinated systems.

  • Internal stability, not perfect stillness.
  • Feedback systems detect change.
  • Body systems respond together.
  • The goal is a normal working range.

Why Homeostasis Matters

Homeostasis helps cells and organs function properly by keeping internal conditions stable enough for normal biological processes. Enzymes, nerves, muscles, hormones, and organs work best within specific ranges.

Cells need stable conditions

Temperature, pH, oxygen, glucose, fluids, and electrolytes all affect how cells work.

Organs coordinate responses

The brain, glands, kidneys, lungs, heart, digestive tract, and blood vessels all help regulate internal conditions.

Disruption can signal risk

Illness, injury, dehydration, infection, hormone problems, and blood sugar issues can disrupt homeostasis and may require professional care.

Examples of Homeostasis in the Body

Homeostasis can be easier to understand when you look at everyday body functions. These examples show how the body detects change and responds.

Homeostasis Example What Changes How the Body Responds
Body temperature Heat or cold exposure Sweating, shivering, and blood vessel changes.
Blood sugar Eating or fasting Insulin and glucagon help regulate glucose.
Hydration Fluid loss or fluid intake Thirst, kidney regulation, and urine concentration.
Blood pH Acid-base changes Breathing rate and kidney function help regulate balance.
Calcium levels Calcium rises or falls Hormones help regulate calcium storage and release.
Blood pressure Position, fluid levels, activity, or stress The heart, blood vessels, kidneys, and hormones respond.

What Is a Negative Feedback Loop?

A negative feedback loop detects a change, compares it to a normal range, and activates a response that moves the body back toward balance.

1. Stimulus

A body condition changes.

2. Sensor

The body detects the change.

3. Control center

The brain, endocrine system, or another control system interprets the change.

4. Effector

Muscles, glands, organs, or cells respond.

5. Correction

The response helps return the body toward balance.

How the Body Regulates Temperature

When body temperature rises or falls, the nervous system helps trigger responses such as sweating, shivering, and changes in blood flow to the skin.

  • Heat can trigger sweating.
  • Cold can trigger shivering.
  • Blood vessels can widen or narrow.
  • The nervous system helps coordinate the response.

How the Body Regulates Blood Sugar

Blood sugar is regulated through hormones such as insulin and glucagon, which help move glucose into storage or release it when needed.

  • Blood sugar often rises after meals.
  • Insulin helps cells use or store glucose.
  • Blood sugar can fall during fasting.
  • Glucagon helps release stored glucose.

Blood sugar concerns should be discussed with a licensed healthcare professional.

Body Systems That Help Maintain Homeostasis

Homeostasis is not handled by one organ alone. Multiple body systems communicate and adjust together.

Body System Role in Homeostasis
Nervous system Detects changes and coordinates fast responses.
Endocrine system Uses hormones to regulate longer-term responses.
Digestive system Breaks down food and supports nutrient availability.
Respiratory system Helps regulate oxygen, carbon dioxide, and pH.
Circulatory system Moves oxygen, nutrients, hormones, and heat.
Urinary system Helps regulate fluid balance, electrolytes, and waste removal.
Immune system Responds to threats while helping protect tissue integrity.
Skeletal system Stores minerals and supports blood cell production.

What Happens When Homeostasis Is Disrupted?

Disrupted homeostasis may happen with illness, dehydration, injury, extreme temperatures, hormone problems, blood sugar problems, medication effects, poor nutrition, infection, or other medical conditions.

When to seek professional guidance
New, severe, persistent, or unexplained symptoms should be discussed with a licensed healthcare professional. This article is educational and is not designed to diagnose a health condition.

When using Genesis Blend CBD oil for diabetes management, starting with a lower dosage and gradually increasing it as needed is essential. Dosage recommendations may vary depending on individual factors such as weight and severity of symptoms. Taking CBD oil with food is also recommended to increase absorption and optimize its benefits.

Monitoring blood sugar levels is advised when using CBD oil for diabetes management. While research suggests that CBD may help regulate glucose metabolism and improve insulin sensitivity, it is essential to closely monitor blood sugar levels and make any necessary adjustments to medication or insulin doses under the guidance of a healthcare professional.

As with any supplement or medication, there may be potential side effects associated with using CBD oil for diabetes management. However, studies have shown that full-spectrum CBD oil from reputable brands like Bluegrass Hemp Oil does not typically cause significant side effects. It is always advisable to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new treatment regimen, especially if you are taking other medications or have underlying health conditions.

Conclusion

In conclusion, CBD oil has shown potential benefits for managing diabetes. It may help reduce inflammation, regulate glucose metabolism, and improve insulin sensitivity.

However, further research is needed to understand its effectiveness and recommended dosage fully.

Additionally, it is essential for individuals using CBD oil for diabetes to monitor their blood sugar levels closely to ensure optimal management of the condition.

Summary of the potential benefits and usage of CBD oil for managing diabetes

Preliminary research suggests that CBD oil may offer potential benefits for managing diabetes, including reducing inflammation, improving glucose metabolism, and relieving symptoms such as fatigue and nerve pain.

Studies have shown that CBD has anti-inflammatory properties, which may help reduce chronic inflammation often associated with diabetes. Inflammation is vital in developing insulin resistance and high blood sugar levels. CBD oil may help improve insulin sensitivity and regulate glucose metabolism by reducing inflammation.

Furthermore, CBD oil has been found to have potential neuroprotective effects in diabetes. Diabetes can cause damage to nerves, leading to symptoms such as numbness, tingling, and pain. CBD's ability to interact with the endocannabinoid system and its anti-inflammatory properties may help protect nerves from further damage and alleviate neuropathic pain.

In addition to these potential benefits, CBD oil may also play a role in reducing the risk of long-term complications associated with diabetes. High blood sugar levels can lead to complications such as cardiovascular disease and kidney problems. Some studies suggest that CBD oil may protect the heart and kidneys, potentially reducing the risk of these complications.

Overall, while research on the efficacy of CBD oil for diabetes management is still in its early stages, preliminary findings indicate that it may offer several potential benefits. However, it is essential to note that individual responses to CBD can vary, and more research is needed to understand its effects on diabetes management fully. It is advisable for individuals considering using CBD oil for diabetes to consult with their healthcare provider for personalized guidance based on their specific condition.

Importance of monitoring blood sugar levels when using CBD oil

Watching glycemic control is crucial when incorporating CBD oil into diabetes management. Understanding the impact of CBD on blood glucose regulation can inform appropriate dosage adjustments and improve overall glycemic stability.

Regular monitoring of blood sugar levels allows individuals to assess the effectiveness of CBD oil in managing their diabetes and make necessary adjustments to their treatment plans. This includes determining the optimal frequency at which blood sugar levels should be checked and establishing a baseline for comparison.

In addition to monitoring blood sugar levels, it is essential to consider CBD oil dosage and absorption optimization for diabetes management. The recommended dosage of CBD oil can vary depending on factors such as body weight, severity of symptoms, and individual response. Starting with a lower dosage and gradually increasing it allows for better tolerance assessment and minimizes the risk of adverse effects.

Taking CBD oil with food may also help optimize absorption, maximizing its potential benefits in regulating blood sugar levels.

While no known side effects are associated with full-spectrum CBD oil for diabetes, regular monitoring is still advised to ensure safety. Monitoring for any changes in blood sugar levels or other potential side effects is essential to prevent any negative impacts on glycemic control or overall health.

By closely monitoring blood sugar levels and being vigilant about pole side effects, individuals can effectively incorporate CBD oil into their diabetes management plan while maintaining optimal glycemic stability.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there any potential drug interactions between CBD oil and diabetes medications?

Potential interactions between CBD oil and diabetes medications are a concern that needs to be addressed. While research on this topic is limited, it is essential to consider the potential for drug interactions due to how CBD affects certain enzymes in the body responsible for metabolizing medications.

One study found that CBD can inhibit these enzymes, potentially leading to higher levels of medication in the bloodstream and increasing the risk of side effects. However, more research is needed to understand these interactions' extent and clinical significance fully.

Therefore, it is crucial for individuals with diabetes who are taking medications to consult their healthcare provider before incorporating CBD oil into their treatment regimen. They can provide personalized dosage recommendations and monitor for potential safety concerns or adverse effects.

Further research is needed to fill existing gaps in our understanding of how CBD interacts specifically with diabetes medications, ensuring effectiveness and safety in managing blood sugar levels.

Can CBD oil help with weight loss and management in individuals with diabetes?

CBD oil has been studied for its potential benefits in weight loss and management, particularly in individuals with diabetes. While research is still limited, CBD oil may help manage weight by targeting multiple factors.

It has been shown to reduce inflammation, which can contribute to insulin resistance and obesity. Additionally, CBD oil may promote the browning of white adipose tissue, leading to increased calorie expenditure and improved metabolic function.

Furthermore, CBD oil may help regulate appetite and food intake by interacting with cannabinoid receptors in the brain. Although more studies are needed to fully understand the effects of CBD oil on weight management in individuals with diabetes, it shows promise as a natural remedy that could complement existing treatment strategies for diabetes prevention and insulin resistance.

Is a specific time of day recommended for taking CBD oil for diabetes?

Recommended timing for taking CBD oil for diabetes is not well-established due to limited research evidence. However, user experiences and anecdotal reports suggest that taking CBD oil in the morning or evening may be beneficial, depending on individual preferences and symptoms.

It is essential to consider dosage considerations when determining the timing of CBD oil intake. Starting with a lower dosage and gradually increasing it can help assess its effects on blood sugar levels.

Potential benefits of taking CBD oil for diabetes include reducing inflammation, modulating sugar metabolism, improving insulin sensitivity, relieving symptoms such as fatigue and nerve pain, and decreasing the risk of long-term complications associated with diabetes.

While there is still a need for more scientific studies explicitly focusing on recommended timing of CBD oil intake for diabetes management, many users have reported positive outcomes by incorporating it into their daily routine.

Can CBD oil be used as a substitute for traditional diabetes treatments, such as insulin or oral medications?

CBD oil has shown potential as a treatment option for diabetes, but it should not be used as a substitute for traditional diabetes treatments such as insulin or oral medications.

Research on the effectiveness of CBD oil for diabetes is still in its early stages, and more studies are needed to understand its benefits fullyessential.

The recommended dosage of CBD oil can vary, and it is important to start with a lower dosage and gradually increase it as needed.

CBD oil appears safe with no associated side effects when taken in full-spectrum form. However, it is essential to monitor blood sugar levels when using CBD oil for diabetes.

While CBD oil may provide various benefits such as reducing inflammation, modulating sugar metabolism, decreasing blood sugar levels, improving insulin sensitivity, relieving symptoms like fatigue and nerve pain, and reducing the risk of long-term complications associated with diabetes, it should not replace traditional treatments without medical supervision.

Bluegrass Hemp Oil offers high-quality CBD oil called Genesis Blend that is full-spectrum and effective in providing fast-acting relief for various ailments. It is safe for children and promotes better sleep and relaxation.

However, further research is needed to fully explore the potential of CBD oil in managing blood sugar levels in individuals with diabetes.

Are there any known risks or side effects associated with the long-term use of CBD oil for diabetes management?

Long-term use of CBD oil for diabetes management has not been extensively studied, so there is limited information on the potential risks or side effects. However, based on current research and patient testimonials, CBD oil appears safe and well-tolerated. It is important to note that dosage recommendations can vary, and it is recommended to start with a lower dosage and gradually increase as needed.

Monitoring blood sugar levels while using CBD oil for diabetes is advised to ensure optimal management. While no known side effects are associated with full-spectrum CBD oil for diabetes, further effectiveness studies are needed to fully understand its potential benefits in managing blood sugar levels.

Bluegrass Hemp Oil offers Genesis Blend CBD oil, which is a reputable source of high-quality full-spectrum CBD oil that provides fast-acting relief for various ailments and promotes better sleep and relaxation.

Conclusion

In conclusion, CBD oil shows promise as a potential treatment option for managing blood sugar levels in diabetes. Research on the effects of CBD on diabetes is still in its early stages, but preliminary studies suggest that CBD may have anti-inflammatory properties and improve insulin sensitivity.

It may also provide neuroprotective benefits and relieve symptoms such as fatigue and nerve pain associated with diabetes.

When using CBD oil for diabetes management, following recommended dosage guidelines and choosing a reputable brand is essential. Bluegrass Hemp Oil's Genesis Blend is recommended as a high-quality, full-spectrum option that offers fast-acting relief while promoting better sleep and relaxation.

As research continues to explore the potential benefits of CBD for diabetes, it is crucial to consult with healthcare professionals before incorporating CBD into your treatment plan. While initial findings are promising, more extensive research is needed to fully understand CBD oil's long-term effects and optimal usage for managing blood sugar levels in diabetes.

CBN is not produced from the Cannabis Sativa plant but rather from the breakdown of the THC molecule. THC is only in trace amounts in hemp, as CBD is the dominant cannabinoid in hemp, and CBN comes from the breakdown process of THC. Our Personal CBD Oil Story

Nothing prepares parents for the first crisis that involves their child. Nevertheless,  Since day one, Colten had given us a run for our money. Two extra digits on his right foot (What?! Yes. It was the craziest little foot, but it was still adorable), a week-long stay in ICU 4 days after birth while he lounged under lights, and we prayed for him to eat. Nothing with him went according to plan. Looking back now, I’m glad it didn’t. Because it was our plan, he wouldn’t adhere to it. God had another.

In January 2009, at age 3, Colten had his first tonic-clonic seizure while on the stairs with his brother, Gunner (6), and our Great Dane pup, Angus.

boys and their dog<— That’s them!! (a few weeks before the first seizure.) Adorable, weren’t they?

Hearing the fall followed by Gunner’s yell, running in, and seeing Colten… No. Words. Can. Describe. We aren’t the first parents to see something like this, and sadly won’t we be the last. But needless to say, this scared everyone. Bill went into rescue mode doing all the things one shouldn’t do with someone mid-seizure. I called 911 and freaked out on the operator. Understandably, Gunner ran and hid. (Poor guy.) We weren’t prepared for that day. Thankfully, the EMTs were. Excellent is a word I often use to describe them, and it doesn’t do them justice.

At the hospital, we answer all the doctor’s questions except one. Did the seizure cause the fall, or did the fall cause the seizure? Until that moment, we hadn’t given it any thought. In our minds, the fall caused the seizure. What do you mean? Are you saying this could happen again? READ MORE HERE

CBD For Epilepsy

In honor of National Epilepsy Awareness Month, we are updating our loyal BHO customers on Colten Polyniak, the reason behind the origin of Bluegrass Hemp Oil, and our renowned Genesis Blend. We are proud to share a small glimpse of Colten’s progress and his (and our) CBD journey in hopes that it may find other families struggling with similar experiences in their homes. Colten still to this day is seizure and pharmaceutical free. Perhaps, just as our founders once were, you’re here looking for a better way of life for you or your family. Here, we hope to inspire another’s journey while championing the use of CBD for epilepsy.

Not only are there numerous potential benefits from a daily CBD routine for those diagnosed with epilepsy, but the same amount of possible benefits lay ahead for those who seek the entire spectrum balance that our Genesis Blend Hemp Extract provides–whether you have a pre-existing condition, or you’re just looking to boost your immune system!

The Polyniaks aren’t the only ones to try their hand at experimenting with CBD to fix their son’s recurrent seizures. Several studies have proven the benefits of CBD for patients with epilepsy. With even more advanced research on the way, more and more doctors are suggesting it as an alternative supplement to combat frequent convulsions. Many studies have demonstrated CBD’s neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory effects, proving a direct correlation between CBD usage and anticonvulsant properties to minimize seizures. READ MORE HERE

Full Spectrum Living With CBD by Bluegrass Hemp Oil
Full Spectrum Living Show Ep1 Transcript

All right.

Welcome, everyone, to the first episode

of Full Spectrum Living with CBD.

I'm Meredith Your Cohost.

And I am here with Jessica

joining us from Spokane, Washington.

And Adraine joining us from Lexington, Kentucky.

I'm so excited to be on this call

with you guys today on this episode.

It's awesome.

So I thought we would start off today by

talking a little bit about your story and how

you came to work with CBD and Hemp.

So, Adriane, maybe you want to kind of

give us a little bit of the background.

Yeah, absolutely.

It was by sheer need, to be perfectly honest.

So our son at age three had his first

seizure, and it caught us completely by surprise.

My husband and I were in the kitchen on a

really snowy, icy day, making breakfast, going

about our day.

And we heard our oldest son, who was six

at the time, he just kind of yelled out.

And he was like, mom, Colton fell down.

And so not knowing what was going on, we ran over and

we see him face down in front of the front door.

And he was seizing.

We never seen anything like it.

It scared the daylight.

We did everything wrong.

My husband put his fingers in his mouth.

All the things that now they caution you not

to do with people who are having a seizure.

Our six year old went in head.

He was frightened.

I'm on the phone with paramedics

and firefighters, just in tears.

And so we got him to the hospital.

They start doing tests on them, and they

asked the question, did the fall cause the

seizure or did the seizure cause the fall?

Honestly, we didn't know.

I mean, it was the first thing that we've seen.

We hoped it was going to be the last.

And unfortunately, it wasn't.

He very quickly progressed from one seizure to hundreds within

that week and had no idea what was going on.

And so we went on this

pharmaceutical Roulette, and we started trying

all different types of pharmaceutical products.

And with those came so many side effects.

The first being rage to the point where my husband and

I wanted to get a shirt for him that said, trust

us, it's because he's medicated, because it really looks like he

was just a child who was completely out of control.

We used to call him the Incredible Hulk, and

he was very mild mannered and happy before.

And he just got really aggressive.

And then from there, we tried

other medications that led to cognitive

delays, inability to regulate body temperature.

He stopped smiling.

And that still to this day, brings tears to my

eyes because you don't realize how much that is a

huge part of who your child is until it's gone,

until you can't see it, until you can't experience it.

And so we started looking for better options.

We thought, this is crazy.

One time we got them within hours of organ failure.

So we had to stop all Pharmaceuticals immediately,

which is harmful in and of itself.

And so we started looking.

We tried ketogenic diets, and then we found

cannabis that doesn't get you high, right.

People were moving their kids across the country

to medical marijuana States looking for this product,

this marijuana that doesn't get you high.

So in our research, honestly, my husband,

I credit all that to him.

His reading and researching and really looking

into things that's when he found out

that it's not marijuana, it's him.

So we started advocating for the legalization

here within the state of Kentucky.

We didn't want to uproot our family

and move across the United States.

Of course, more power to those parents who do that.

But we wanted to effect change here.

And so we did.

And because of that, when hemp was legalized in

2013 here in Kentucky, followed up by the federal

farm Bill of 2014, we started farming hemp.

We were one of the original companies

given a program to farm in 2014.

But fast forward to today.

There's so much stuff that goes in between there.

But fast forward today. Our son, Colten.

He's now seizure free.

He's Pharma free.

He just takes our products.

He's able to play sports that he wants to.

He can sweat and regulate his body temperature.

He's right on grade level.

He is a very normal, healthy, fully

functioning 14 year old stinky boy.

That's incredible.

That must have been such an emotional ride for you

guys to go through all of that and to not

be able to have somebody provide you with a solution.

It was really scary.

And we started looking and

reaching out to other parents.

And sadly, people talk about CBD

being the wild, wild west now.

And yes, I'll agree with them to some point,

but he was even more so then parents were

being shipped products that were like 100% straight THC

or that had absolutely no CBD or therapeutic properties,

or they were just having their money taken and

not receiving any product at all.

So we wanted money as well.

The pricing then was a lot higher. Absolutely.

So we wanted to be that safe place for

parents, and then it's just grown beyond that.

That's an incredible, incredible story.

And I'm so glad it sounds like you have

so much knowledge and such a heart for what

hemp is really able to do for people.

And we're going to talk in a little bit about

the show and what you're hoping to create here and

why people are going to want to tune in.

But first, let's hear from Jessica how you

got involved with bluegrass hemp and exactly what

it is that brought you to this opportunity. Sure. Yeah.

So another personal story.

Adriane kind of touched on some families that moved

to Colorado to find treatments for their kids.

And we were borderline almost one of those families.

So my sister in law, who is now 16, her name is Paige.

She was essentially one of the first clients of

Bluegrass Hemp Oil, and it was basically with Paige.

She has autism spectrum disorder.

And really at the time, years ago, violent rages that were

three or four times a day, I mean, at least.

And the intensity of those wages got to a point

where we were really fearful of what happens when she's

a teenager, when she is bigger than her mom, who

is a petite person, and we already at age six,

seven, eight, we're really struggling to maintain her behaviors and

keep her from hurting herself or us going to really

extreme lengths to try and keep her safe.

But it was just seemed like such an uphill battle

that we honestly were just really desperate for anything.

We had gone the pharmaceutical route as well.

And I think our point of kind of realizing something

just wasn't right was she had the rage naturally.

But a lot of the Pharmaceuticals brought

out wages even more so for her.

She lost her smile, too.

You would walk in the room and she didn't even respond.

It was just she didn't register that

anyone was even there half the time.

And so we took her to a psychiatrist appointment one day,

and she literally pulled out a list of Pharmaceuticals and read

all of them and asked, have you tried this?

Have you tried that?

And we had tried every single option on her list.

And at that point, we just said, forget it.

And these Pharmaceuticals have brought

out the worst in her.

We still battle the rages, and now we

battle the side effects like weight gain or

nausea or just so many different things.

We got desperate as well and temporarily went out

to Colorado to be with some family members there

to try our hand at obtaining cannabis for her.

And we weren't familiar with the alternatives.

And needless to say, that just didn't go well.

It wasn't a good suit for her at the time.

We came back and advocated when we found out

that hemp was an option and started advocating.

And my family met the Adriane and Bill, the owners.

And it was just kind of a

journey from there to fast forward.

It took about two months to see results per Page.

Once we were able to actually get a product, which

Adriane mentioned, we had one of the first licenses.

We also have one of the first products.

And that was a really big deal at the time

because there was a lot of stalling from certain companies

to try and influence the market, and we needed it.

So we have one of the first

products Pages, one of the first clients.

And five years later, she's

pharmaceutical free as well.

She's had one rage in five years,

one single rage in five years.

She's fully verbal.

She potty trained herself in two months, which

was astonishing because we had basically given up

on that, didn't think it would be possible.

She smiles and she laughs and she's very crazy,

and she's got friends and she's got hobbies and

she loves animals and she has a quality of

life that we knew was not an option.

At one point, we just knew

that wasn't an option for her.

And now it is.

And it's just been a lifesaver for

not just her, but the entire family.

I mean, I was a hired bodyguard,

essentially, for her to assist her full

time to keep her from hurting herself.

And so anyways, it's impacted not just her

life, but mine and everyone in the family.

And we're just grateful for BHO.

Yeah, that's incredible.

And I think I don't even probably really need to ask why

you guys want to have this podcast, why you want to have

this show, but I want to hear it in your own words.

So what are you hoping to share here as we record

these and as we share them with people in the community?

What do you have that you're so excited about?

Honestly, I just want to bring answers to people.

There are so many questions.

We have two retail locations, and we talk

to consumers on the phone all day, every

day, or even on the streets.

And honestly, the questions are pretty much the same,

but they do get more and more details.

And a lot of the information that you

can find on the Internet is very confusing.

It's meant to be confusing, honestly.

Some of it, in our opinion, leaves consumers in

the wrong way and in the wrong direction.

So honestly just kind of a safe place for

people to come and listen to hear why we

do things the way that we do.

Not necessarily.

They don't have to go and go to

our website and buy, of course, Hallelujah.

That'd be fantastic.

We love that.

But to at least educate them in their purchases. Right.

So that they know exactly where they're

putting their hard earned money and what

expectations they can put on a product.

I'd like to add to that.

I really think hope as well is a big

thing, because for families who have been in our

situation, it feels really discouraging for the future and

to be able to provide more access and more

information and more resource to people because we know

how dramatic it can improve some people's lives.

And there's a lot more out there

that it could do that for them.

And they haven't tried it yet

because of fear or confusion.

And so I know that our stories are

not at all the only ones that's profound.

And so I think it's a really good time to be

in the industry, to be able to share this with people.

Yeah, I'm looking forward to hearing more

of those stories because I know you

guys just have helped so many people.

So tell me, who's a good candidate for hemp products?

Who's a good candidate for the remedies and the

things that you all have come up with.

Who are you helping?

I mean, honestly, I'd say anybody and everybody, whether you

have a symptom or a condition that you are looking

to seek relief from or if you're just looking to

prevent the onset of symptoms or a condition that may

be in your family, I think everybody is kind of

a good person to try a CBD.

Everybody has an endocannabinoid system

and it can fluctuate.

So why not?

It's not going to hurt you.

You may find that you're sleeping better or that you're

just a happier person, even if you don't have a

condition that has very rooted in inflammation or autoimmune.

I certainly agree.

I think when we first started out on this

journey, it was looking for those who were ill

and that other options had let down.

But the longer we've been studying what happens and

why it happens, the more encouraged I am just

to suggest everyone I know should try it and

take it for preventative means, if nothing else, because

I think everyone has at least some stress management

issues from time to time.

And for that, it's extremely helpful.

But also as a neuro protectant its ability to

help fight off potential Alzheimer's dementia conditions is being

really well documented and studied right now and looks

to be like a great reason that everyone should

take this product, just protect yourself and your neurological

system from the environment.

So if I'm understanding you guys right, there's like

a kind of a remedy or treatment component, but

then there's also a huge prevention component, and we'll

have plenty of time to dive into that.

But I don't know that I knew that. Right.

I don't know that that was something

that I knew coming to this.

And I know I'm going to learn so much from both of you.

Maybe you can just really quickly

kind of give us hemp 101.

What's the difference between hemp and

what's the difference between marijuana?

What's the difference between marijuana and its

ability to get you high and hemp?

And it's not going to have happen.

I mean, are there just some basics that would be really

helpful for people to know that you guys can share?

Sure. Yeah.

Adriane, do you mind? Go ahead.

I'm like feeling encouraged.

Meredith and I live in a legal state where

there's full access to cannabis of all kinds here.

And I think that it's kind of interesting

to use that perspective to explain it.

But basically it's not like a hemp or marijuana.

I think it's cannabis.

And cannabis comes in many different forms.

And we specialize in the low THC cannabis variety that

is, of course, called hemp, and it's more dominant in

a particular cannabinoid called can have a dial.

So it's really rich in CBD, and that's cannabidiol

it's got trace amounts of other active cannabinoids.

And it really mimics cannabis.

Marijuana in many ways, but essentially

just it's all the same.

It just depends on how you grow it. And within.

There's many different genetic varieties.

But when you consume a product that's richer in

CBD than THC, then most likely it's not going

to provide any altering experience, especially when you have

one like ours that attempt to arrive that has

only trace amounts of THC.

That just doesn't get you high, doesn't impair you.

There's debate on how you use the

term non psychoactive because it does have

anti anxiety and antidepressant effects.

And so that's psychoactivity, but it's

not intoxication and it's not impairment.

It doesn't impact your ability to think critically

or operate machinery or anything like that.

So with a high CBD strain,

you don't get that impairment.

And that's often one of the

first questions that we get.

And it really just offers the body support through

one of your key systems, the endocannabinoid system.

And in supporting that system, you can

often achieve balance in the body, and

that can result in reduce autoimmune symptoms

or reduce anxiety or depression, improve sleep,

reduce pain, decrease digestive discomfort or nausea.

There's just a lot that it does for the

body because it's just promoting your internal regulator, which

is the endocannabinoid system, to function better.

So it's really just a support system

to help your body help itself.

And that, in turn, means there's a lot

of benefits for a lot of people. Awesome.

So, Jessica, you have a ton of knowledge.

It's just really coming to light right

now and expertise in this area.

So how have you developed that over time?

Like, what has helped you to become so knowledgeable

about these products and how they help people?

Personal interest is one probably, yeah.

So I lived in Colorado years ago,

right after decriminalization there, whatever it was.

And so that kind of sparked interest.

And I have a health background study, physical

therapy, and worked in healthcare for ten years.

And I think just the merging of

those two interests, I don't know.

I saw how it worked and my sister, and

it was just kind of a curiosity from then.

But I've been really fortunate that Adriane has supported that

learning as well by sending me two different courses, which

Adriane also is a big expert on this.

I mean, she certainly is.

So we've gone through courses intended for cannabis

medical professionals, and we've gone to conferences.

We'll be going to a conference next month,

international one for cannabis as medicine, and enrolled

in some online courses, a healer training program,

which has been really beneficial.

And then just reading and learning and

growing, and it's been years of that.

So it kind of accumulates over time.

That's awesome.

So if someone wanted to know a little bit more

about your work and what you're doing with bluegrass hemp

oil, where would they go to find that information? Yeah.

So definitely go to

our website, www.bluegrasshempoil.com.

You can find we have a blog post there.

We like to post studies and

just kind of really educate people.

Facebook is also a place where

we're really active and Instagram.

So Instagram is going to be more pretty pictures.

We're going to try to get you with funny memes.

Of course it's Instagram, but Facebook will post

studies or articles that we find interesting and

we really try to encourage people to get

involved, to get engaged and ask us questions

because a lot of consumers, they may have

questions that we haven't even thought of ourselves.

So again, to your point, how

do we keeping ourselves educated?

It's through that it's through the continuous questioning of

whether it's the consumers or ourselves or the great

team that we have here within our own company. Awesome.

Well, I think it's going to be fantastic

to just share with you guys each week.

So we're going to have an episode every single

week of this show that's going to allow people

to just tap into your knowledge and all the

information that you've got out there to share.

And I'm excited to get onto those next episodes and

just learn all about this industry and all about how

CBD can really help so many of us.

So thank you both.

It's been awesome sharing with you today.

And again, Meredith, the co-host of Full Spectrum Living

with CBD are two hosts here, Jessica and Adriane.

So until the next time.

See you. Bye.

CBD for Faster Wound Healing in 2024 – Latest Research and Products

Many people use CBD to combat their feelings of stress and anxiety; and many more people use CBD to alleviate their symptoms of physical pain as well as inflammation from strenuous activity or severe injury. But what about CBD for healing wounds?

CBD For Healing Wounds

A recent article from projectcbd.org gives us further insight to the wonders of CBD healing--more specifically, using CBD for healing wounds. Until becoming a life-threatening issue for her brother, Mary Biles, the author of the article in question, "Topical Cannabis for Leg Ulcers," had never thought much about the severity of leg ulcers--or the lack of successful healing processes found to treat such ailments. In a series of preliminary experiments to study new ways of treating leg ulcers, Dr. Vincent Maida found some success with the use of topical cannabis. Two elderly patients within the experiment, both of whom suffered serious cases of leg ulcers for over a period of six months, found that, with Dr. Maida's treatment, their wounds had completely closed within 73 days. In addition to total wound closure from Dr. Maida's cannabis-based topical treatment, "... the patients’ pain was significantly reduced so that by day 63 no other analgesics were required" (Biles, 2021, pg. 1). Though we emphasize that taking your CBD oil sublingually will always be the most therapeutic method for consuming CBD, we recognize that Dr. Maida's findings in using a cannabis-based remedy for wound management offers a significant argument for the benefits of topical CBD application. Topical CBD products can be just as effective in both pain and healthy skin management--because everyone's needs are different, even yours. But it isn't just the active cannabinoids (CBD, CBDa, THC, etc.) within your extract that could be making the difference in your healing process. Based on Dr. Maida's research, we know that the terpenes and flavonoids present within a full spectrum CBD product play a large role in wound recovery: specifically, beta-caryophyllene--which is by far the most prevalent terpene in our very own Genesis Blend extracts! Because of Dr. Maida's conclusions, we can guarantee to our customers that they're receiving the full potential benefits for healing wounds because our products are full spectrum. In order for a product to truly be "full spectrum," all of the original cannabinoids, terpenes, and flavonoids present in the plant at harvest time must still be present in the finished product--even after undergoing the extraction method that turns the original plant into a liquidized extract. When a product is, indeed, full spectrum, consumers are reaping the full benefits that this versatile and therapeutic plant has to offer. Many products on the market, however, are not full spectrum. CBD isolates and broad spectrum CBD products on the market do not offer the same therapeutic results that we do--a notion that is further proved by Dr. Maida's findings.

Our Genesis Blend CBD For Healing Wounds

We take pride in having an extensive knowledge of what exactly we put in our extracts--so, with us, you know you can trust the product you've purchased. Our extracts are a precise blend of our bloom-crafted, full spectrum CBD extract and a USP MCT Oil (from coconut.) A well known anti-inflammatory agent that promotes anti-oxidant defenses, coconut oil also provides anti-microbial properties to help with the production of collagen and even work to avoid infection. Proven in its natural, golden color, our Genesis Blend Hemp Extracts are harvested from our Kentucky farm’s bloom-only cannabis sativa and converted into an extract through a gentle, hydrocarbon extraction process that safeguards all of the original ingredients. This extraction method allows us to develop a product that is truly full spectrum, keeping all of the added benefits of the natural terpenes, flavonoids, and cannabinoids that were present in the original sativa bloom. Naturally present in our CBD oil, myrcene, pinene, and beta-caryophyllene are just a few of the terpenes kept in our products to help promote sleep, treat anxiety, and combat pain and inflammation. If you have a new or recurring wound giving you trouble--and you think you've tried everything--take a chance on our Genesis Blend Hemp Extract. While sublingually consuming one of our hemp extracts could potentially speed up your healing process from the inside out, using our full spectrum oil topically could also offer additional healing benefits. And though we advise against using it on broken skin, our Calming Balm could also be your saving grace when it comes to healthy skin. Acting as a protective skin barrier, our Calming Balm works to guard and heal your skin from sunburns, eczema, poison ivy, bug bites, dry skin, psoriasis, and even diaper rash! Made with castor oil, hydrogenated castor oil, beeswax, carnauba wax, lavender oil, lemongrass oil, and our full spectrum CBD extract, this revolutionary product could help replenish your skin after you've done the work to heal your wound.

The Dangers of Delta-8 THC: What Kentucky Consumers Should Know

Delta-8 THC is an intoxicating cannabinoid often sold as gummies, vapes, oils, tinctures, chocolates, and other hemp-derived products. Although these products may be marketed as “hemp,” Delta-8 THC can cause psychoactive effects and may be confused with non-intoxicating CBD products.

This guide explains the dangers of Delta-8 THC, why many store-sold Delta-8 products are synthetic or semi-synthetic cannabinoids made through conversion, how Delta-8 differs from CBD, what Kentucky consumers should know, and how to evaluate hemp-derived products more carefully before buying.

Safety note: Delta-8 THC can be intoxicating. Do not drive, operate machinery, or make important decisions after using intoxicating cannabinoid products. Keep all THC, CBD, and hemp-derived products away from children and pets. If someone experiences severe symptoms after consuming a cannabinoid product, call 911 or Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222.

What Is Delta-8 THC?

Delta-8 THC is one of many cannabinoids associated with the cannabis plant. It is chemically similar to Delta-9 THC, the primary intoxicating compound in marijuana, and it can produce psychoactive effects.

Delta-8 THC occurs naturally only in small amounts. Many commercial Delta-8 products are made by chemically converting hemp-derived CBD into Delta-8 THC. This manufacturing process is one reason product testing and transparency matter so much.

Why store-sold Delta-8 is often synthetic in practical consumer terms

In many retail products, Delta-8 THC is not simply pressed, infused, or extracted from hemp in meaningful natural amounts. It is commonly produced through the isomerization of CBD to Delta-8 THC, often starting with CBD isolate. That is why consumers researching How is Delta-8 made from CBD isolate should understand that the finished product may be a converted, synthetic or semi-synthetic intoxicating cannabinoid product.

Bluegrass Hemp Oil position: synthetic cannabinoids should be avoided, especially intoxicating hemp-derived products that cannot provide batch-specific proof of potency, residual solvent screening, heavy metal screening, and contaminant testing.

Why the “hemp” label can be confusing

Many shoppers see the word “hemp” and assume the product is non-intoxicating. That is not always true. A product can be hemp-derived and still contain intoxicating cannabinoids, including Delta-8 THC. This is why consumers should read labels carefully and review third-party lab results before buying.

For an official consumer warning, read the FDA Delta-8 THC consumer update.

The Dangers of Delta-8 THC: Why Products Can Be Risky

Delta-8 THC concerns are not limited to whether a product is intoxicating. The bigger issue is that product quality, potency, testing, labeling, and manufacturing standards can vary widely.

Risk AreaWhat Consumers Should Know
IntoxicationDelta-8 THC can produce psychoactive effects and may impair judgment, coordination, and reaction time.
Label confusionProducts may be labeled as “hemp,” which some shoppers assume means non-intoxicating.
Chemical conversionMany commercial Delta-8 products are made by converting CBD into Delta-8 THC, which can involve chemical processing.
ContaminantsSome products may not be systematically tested for residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, microbes, or unwanted byproducts.
Child and pet exposureGummies, chocolates, candies, and sweetened products may appeal to children or be accidentally consumed by pets.
Serving-size confusionPotency and serving sizes may not be clear, especially for new users.

The FDA has stated that Delta-8 THC products have not been evaluated or approved for safe use and may be marketed in ways that put public health at risk.

Natural vs synthetic cannabinoids comparison: naturally occurring cannabinoids in hemp may be present in small amounts, while many store-sold Delta-8 products are created by chemical conversion. That difference matters because conversion can create byproducts if the process is not controlled and verified.

Delta-8 Side Effects and Adverse Events

Delta-8 THC effects can vary depending on the product, serving size, route of use, individual sensitivity, other substances used, and whether the product contains contaminants or more THC than expected.

Reported or possible effects may include:

Drowsiness or sedation
Confusion
Dizziness
Anxiety or discomfort
Changes in heart rate
Changes in blood pressure
Slowed reaction time
Impaired coordination
Nausea or vomiting
In severe cases, difficulty breathing or loss of consciousness

Not every person will experience these effects. However, because Delta-8 THC is intoxicating and product quality can vary, consumers should approach these products with caution.

If you are asking, “Why do I feel sick after taking Delta-8?” stop using the product, secure it away from children and pets, review the label and COA, and contact a qualified healthcare professional or Poison Help if symptoms are concerning.

For more official context, read the CDC Delta-8 THC Health Alert Network advisory.

Delta-8 THC vs CBD: What Is the Difference?

Delta-8 THC and CBD are often discussed together because both may come from hemp. But they are not the same compound and they do not affect the body in the same way.

QuestionDelta-8 THCCBD
Is it intoxicating?Yes, it can be intoxicating.CBD itself is not intoxicating.
Can it cause a high?Yes.No, not from CBD itself.
How is it commonly made?Often made by chemically converting hemp-derived CBD.Typically extracted from hemp.
Should it be lab-tested?Yes. Testing should confirm potency, Delta-8, Delta-9 THC, residual solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, and contaminants.Yes. Testing should confirm cannabinoid content, THC levels, solvents, pesticides, heavy metals, microbes, and other quality markers.
Can it affect drug testing?Yes. Delta-8 is a form of THC and may trigger a positive THC result.Full-spectrum CBD may contain trace THC and may also carry drug-test risk.
Should children or pets access it?No.No. Keep all cannabinoid products secured.

Delta-8 lab testing requirements vs CBD should be evaluated carefully because Delta-8 conversion can introduce manufacturing concerns that do not apply the same way to straightforward hemp extraction.

Investigative comparison topics

Delta-8 vs Full Spectrum CBD for anxiety is a common search, but neither Delta-8 nor CBD should be marketed as a treatment for anxiety. Consumers should focus on intoxication, labeling, drug-test risk, COAs, and professional guidance.

Safety of CBD gummies vs Delta-8 gummies depends on product quality, THC content, serving size, and testing. Delta-8 gummies add intoxication and synthetic-conversion concerns.

Expert terminology made plain

Cannabinoid receptor affinity: CBD vs Delta-8 matters because Delta-8 THC can produce psychoactive effects, while CBD itself does not produce a high. A Third-party COA for heavy metals and solvents helps shoppers verify product quality claims.

Bluegrass Hemp Oil focuses on Kentucky-grown, full-spectrum CBD products that are third-party tested and supported by transparent product information. Our goal is to help customers understand what they are buying, review lab results, and choose hemp-derived products responsibly.

Why choose Bluegrass Hemp Oil over gas station Delta-8

The answer should not be hype. It should be transparency: Kentucky sourcing, clear product information, accessible COAs, and education-first guidance rather than intoxication-first marketing.
