With the hemp industry projected to grow by a whopping 700% by 2020, it is no surprise that we get asked all the time “how can I get involved?” Like any farming practice, there is a lot of hard work and necessary steps to ensure a successful crop but getting licensed through the state is definitely the first step.

With that being said, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture has released the 2019 Hemp Program applications Grower License Application Processor/Handler License Application.

If you are considering it, the hemp industry is definitely a great one to be in. Since 2014, Kentucky’s program has seen quite the increase! Starting out with a total of 33 acres in year one has turned into what is now over 1,000 collective acres being grown here in the great state of Kentucky. As of September 2018, the production of CBD makes up more than 60% of the use for hemp being grown in the state.

We invite you to come learn more at a KDA sponsored Industrial Hemp Pilot Program Applicant Information & Networking Session for those looking to become a grower or processor. It will be held October 11 from 1-5 PM at the Pritchard Community Center located at 404 S. Mulberry St. in Elizabethtown, KY 42701. Kentucky Cannabis Company will be there! Will you?
